Feasibility Reports of the Expansion of Korla Airport andHami Airport Gain Approval

The feasibility reports of the expansion of Korla Airport and Hami Airport have gained approval from the National Development and Reform Commission. The total investment into the project is 67.987 Billion Yuan.

The budgetary estimate of Korla Airport’s project is 5.8228 Billion Yuan. The construction, which will begin by 2015, includes a new 25,000 square meter terminal, 7 Category C parking bays and an additional 46,000 square meters of apron area, a 13,000 square meter cross-field taxiway capable of handling Class D aircraft, a new 9,500 square meter parking lot, and the expansion of the ATC building, Fire Fighting and Recue Center, and other facilities.

The budgetary estimate of Hami Airport’s project is 9.759 Billion Yuan. The main construction includes extending the runway eastward by 400 meters, widening it by 50 meters, and adding 2.5 meter wide shoulders; the apron will be expanded from 230mx120m to 305mx120m with 3.5 meter long road shoulders; a new cross field taxiway in the east end will be built and the runway turnaround will be expanded; a blast pad, as well as navigation, meteorological monitoring, Lighting Aids and other facilities will all be installed.
