Passenger Throughput in Shanghai’s Two Airports Climbs to China’s No.1

In the first half of 2014, the activity of Shanghai’s two airports surpassed Beijing airport’s and took the national No.1 spot. The 315.2 thousand total flights operated represent a 6.2% growth over last year, with the passenger flow of 43.2154 million showing an 8.8% growth over last year, and the 1.6961 million ton cargo throughput experiencing a 6.4% growth over last year.

Individually, there were 190.245 thousand flights operated from the Pudong Airport, an increase of 6% over last year, and 124.942 thousand flights from the Hongqiao Airport, showing a growth of 6.6% over last year. In terms of passenger flow, the Pudong and Hongqiao airports processed 24.47 million and 18.746 million passengers respectively, 3.4806 million more passengers than last year.
