Yushu Batang Airport officially opened on August 1st, 2009

Yushu Batang airport was opened on the 1st of August. It takes 60 minutes to fly from Xining to Yushu and the road-traffic-only situation of Yushu has become history.
Situated 18 kilometers to the south of Jiegu town of the Yushu Zang Autonomous Region, Yushu is the 1st civil airport in the Sanjiang river valley. With an elevation of 3,890 meters, Yushu airport is the highest airport above sea level in Qinghai Province. The flight zone was designed according to Category C requirements. The runway is 3,800 meters long with a passenger lounge of 4,258 square meters and can accommodate the landings & take-offs of A319. The terminal is designed to target 80,000 passenger throughputs by 2015.
