Starting January 4, Hong Kong and Macao air ticket agencies are allowed to set up wholly-owned companies in Mainland China. The Civil Aviation Administration of China recently issued a regulation allowing air ticket agencies in Hong Kong and Macao to set up joint ventures with local partners or operate as wholly-owned in the mainland. China requires a registered capital of RMB 1.5 million for first-grade domestic air ticket agency and RMB 0.5 million for second-grade agencies.
