China Eastern Airlines will open flights between Shanghai and Johannesburg in April as a result of the bilateral air negotiation between China and South Africa. Manqoba Nyembezi, tourism attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in China, said the opening of the flight will benefit tourists and businessmen of China and South Africa and promote bilateral economic cooperation. Initially, China Eastern will open two flights a week with a stopover at Maldives. Currently Chinese tourists visiting South Africa usually fly from a Chinese city to Hong Kong or Singapore and then transfer to a flight to Johannesburg.
