It hopes to benefit and generate returns from the currently increasing demand for air travel. With the present demand of the general population, particularly affluent Chinese to travel via air both for business and leisure, China’s air carriers are accelerating and expanding the capacity of its fleet to accommodate and keep pace with the rising demand of air transport service. China Eastern Airlines will invest a total amount of USD1.94 billion for the entire purchase. The 30 new Boeing 737 NG series jets are expected to be ready for delivery between July 2011 and November 2015.
