China, Australia hold security forum

Officials from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) led by Vice Minister Li Jian attended the Sino-Australia Aviation Security Forum in Australia on June 23-26.
Together with Li are officials from the CAAC’s Public Security Bureau and International Department. The security forum was in preparation for the implementation of a memorandum of understanding between the CAAC and Australia’s Department of Transport and Regional Services on developing aviation security cooperation signed by China and Australia. The forum tackled topics on aviation security policy structure, legislation, liquid restriction measures and cargo freight security. Li presented China’s civil aviation security policy structure and measures that were adopted to enhance security for the Olympic Games. He said Australia’s experience and measures will help China in hosting the Olympic games. Li and Andrew, deputy secretary of DOTARS, signed a joint statement about the Sino-Australia Aviation Security Bilateral Forum. The Chinese delegation visited the Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport.
