Sanya Phoenix International Airport Named a SKYTRAX 4-Star Airport and Haikou Meilan International Airport Awarded SKYTRAX 5-Star Terminal Recognition

The SKYTRAX World Airport Awards were held in the International Asia Pacific Convention Center in Sanya, Hainan Province on June 26, 2014. During the meeting, the Sanya Phoenix International Airport (Sanya Airport) was awarded the title of SKYTRAX 4-Star Airport, receiving a medal from SKYTRAX president Edward Plaisted. This recognition makes the Sanya Airport China’s 4th and the world’s 15th SKYTRAX 4-Star Airport.

The international terminal of Haikou Meilan International Airport (Meilan Airport) was awarded the status of China’s second and the world’s 6th SKYTRAX 5-Star Terminal. The international terminal is located to the east of the domestic terminal; construction began on April 18, 2011 with a total investment of 230 million Yuan. Its total area covers 13,200 square meters and is equipped with complete passenger service facilities. The terminal is capable of accommodating the demands of 1,060,000 passengers annually.
