Expansion of the Ganzhou Huangjin Airport Gets Approval

To adapt to the requirements of the developing aviation industry and to accelerate the establishment of Ganzhou as an important regional transportation hub, the Jiangxi Development and Reform Commission has given an official reply approving the expansion project of the Ganzhou Huangjin Airport.

The Ganzhou Huangjin Airport’s expansion project has been included in the National 12th Five-year Plan for Civil Aviation Development. Its short-term passenger throughput capacity has been projected to reach 200 thousand per year by 2015, eventually reaching 550 thousand per year in long-term projections.

In the recent years, with the rapid social and economic development of the region, its air transportation demands have also grown considerably; this led to a quick growth in the airport’s passenger volumes, as seen by the more than 600 thousand passengers processed in 2012, much more than the airport’s previously designed handling capabilities.
